West Sedona
West Sedona is the closest area to many hiking and ORV trails, although it’s less walkable than Uptown and the Village of Oak Creek. If you’re looking to do longer hikes in Sedona, check out the town of Jerome, or visit the Palatki Heritage Site, stay here for convienent access.
High end:
Adobe Grand Villas
Guests rave about the breakfast included with the stay, and we love that each room includes a jetted tub, waterfall shower, and fireplace. A few even have private patios — the perfect spot to enjoy your morning meals.
Mid-range:
Alma De Sedona Inn
Located off the main road, you can expect this inn to be quieter. The pool and views are stunning, and you’ll find trailheads a 15-minute walk away!
Budget stay:
Sky Ranch Lodge
Aside from guests loving the cleanliness and spacious kitchen amenities, we love that this inn offers a free shuttle that takes you anywhere within a five-mile radius (meaning travel to most of West Sedona and Uptown). Plus, you’re within walking distance of Airport Mesa — Sedona’s most famous vortex.
Camp:
Camp Avalon Spiritual Nature Retreat
Located ten minutes outside of West Sedona, this site is a gem of a find. When you arrive, you get to choose your campsite, with some being more secluded than others. They can accommodate rigs up to 20 feet in length, although there are no hookups or dump stations.
Uptown
Uptown is a very walkable, upscale neighborhood. The downside is that it can have traffic backups during around holidays and the busy season, but staying here puts you in a good range of all the sights.
High end:
Amara Resort & Spa
You can’t beat the stunning red rock views from this resort. Guests love its private, yet walkable location, saying it felt like an oasis.
Mid-range:
Los Abrigados Resort & Spa
Los Abrigados Resort & Spa is on the south end of Uptown, next to the Tlaquepaque Arts and Shopping Village. You’ll fall in love with the Spanish style here!
Inn Above Oak Creek
Located on the southern outskirts of Uptown, this hotel is quieter, yet is still in a walkable location. We love that you get to choose between rooms with red rock views or the creek.
Budget stay:
Sedona Uptown Suites
This location offers easy parking and is only a five-minute walk away from Uptown’s restaurants and shops.
Camp:
Rancho Sedona RV Park
Unfortunately, the Rancho Sedona RV Park doesn’t offer tent sites, but they do have sites for rigs up to 45 feet long. Visitors mention it’s quiet, and we love that it has an adults-only section!
Village of Oak Creek
The Village of Oak Creek is just south of many shorter popular hikes, like Bell Rock, and just north of Montezuma Castle and heritage sites like V Bar V. This area tends to be more affordable than Sedona, so it’s a great area to stay if you’re on a budget.
Mid-range:
Canyon Villa Bed & Breakfast
Stay here and treat yourself to beautiful views of Bell Rock, private patios, and great breakfasts. We love that the trailhead to Bell Rock is a ten-minute walk away and that you can stargaze from the pool.
Budget stay:
Desert Quail Inn Sedona Bell Rock
Rooms here are spacious, and we love the number of restaurants nearby. Plus, this hotel offers laundry facilities!
Camp:
Chavez Crossing Group Campsite
This campsite is more rustic than others — there are no paved paths or hookups, and the restrooms are pit toilets. Small RVs and trailers are allowed, although sites are more expensive since they hold between 10 and 50 people. They also have an option to reserve the entire campground.
Cottonwood
Cottonwood is a half-hour drive west of Sedona, just 15 minutes away from Jerome. The town is cute and homely, making it a great home base if you’d like a quieter stay during the busy season. However, it would mean longer drives to most of the sights.
Mid-range:
The Tavern Hotel
This hotel has a great location downtown within walking distance to restaurants and bars. Some rooms offer full kitchens, and we appreciate that it’s been stylishly updated.
Budget stay:
Pines Inn & Suites
We love that guests mention how clean this inn is! Plus, it’s dog friendly and more affordable than staying in Sedona.
Camp:
Dead Horse Ranch State Park
We love the spacious sites at Dead Horse Ranch. They offer large RV sites, tent sites, and cabins but often sell out during the spring and fall.
