Moab

Downtown Moab is known for having fun shops, restaurants, and being a ten-minute drive from the entrance to Arches National Park. The town is busy and fun.

Luxury:

Sunflower Hill Inn

Guests have nothing but positive things to say about the Sunflower Hill Inn. The location is perfect – it’s in the center of Moab, but still secluded and quiet. A warm breakfast buffet and fresh pastries are available every morning – enjoy breakfast from their great patio and porch seating. If that’s not enough to convince you to stay here, the pool, hot tub, and shared BBQ will do the trick. Rooms sleep two to four.

Mid-range:

Best Western Plus Canyonlands Inn

This hotel has the most walkable location on this list. It’s in downtown Moab next to all the shops and restaurants off Main Street. Guests rave about the complimentary breakfast and love the outdoor seating area.

Budget:

Apache Motel

This is such a unique stay, and we love the amenities here! They offer complimentary bikes to explore downtown, hot water for washing bikes and dogs, barbeque areas, a general store, a heated pool, and trailer parking. Plus, they have a nightly fire and continental breakfast!

Spanish Valley

The Spanish Valley is a ten-minute drive south of downtown Moab. It’s quieter and more affordable here, with great access to off-road trails.

Luxury:

Sage Creek Resort

Stay in these condos to have more space. They sleep between six and 22 people, with a heated pool open year-round, two hot tubs, a lounge, and multiple barbecues.

Mid-range:

Red Moon Lodge

This bed and breakfast is a hidden gem. It sits on six acres of land just five miles outside of Moab. Each room has a private entrance and bathroom, sleeping between two and four. Breakfast is served continental-style with homemade pastries. Let them know if you have dietary restrictions in advance and they’re happy to make accommodations.

Budget:

Moab Beds Xpress Inn

This is a bed and breakfast with three small rooms to choose from. Each has a private bathroom and access to the shared lounge. It’s adults only, so you can expect a quieter stay.

Castle Valley

Castle Valley is located 22 miles from downtown Moab on the Upper Colorado Scenic Byway. The road follows the river with striking views of the red canyon walls. Stay here for a remote and peaceful experience.

Mid-range:

Castle Valley Inn Bed and Breakfast

Stay here to experience the best views of the high desert. Enjoy stargazing, a walk through the five acres of lawns and orchards, hot tubbing, hammocking, and of course, delicious breakfasts.

Red Cliffs Lodge

We noticed this lodge while driving on Highway 128 and immediately knew this would be an incredible place to stay. The lodge is on the edge of the Colorado River, and the grounds are beautiful. Plus, it’s pet friendly, and they offer sack lunches to take with you hiking!

North of Moab

Stay here for easy access to Canyonlands National Park and the nearby BLM land great for off-roading and biking.

Mid-range:

Under Canvas Moab

Under Canvas Moab is located seven miles north of Moab. It’s a safari-inspired glamping, so you’ll stay in yurts outfitted to stargaze or the larger canvas tents that fit up to four.

Shafer Basin

Be prepared with a high-clearance vehicle and pack in your groceries and water to enjoy being off-grid in the famous Shafer Basin. You can expect to see plenty of wildlife and stars so bright they cast shadows!

Mid-range:

Base Camp Adventure Lodge

Get the off-grid experience without having to camp. The Base Camp Adventure Lodge is located an hour outside Moab, with options to book an entire home that sleeps up to six, private rooms, or hogans. While you’re here, hike or off road to the Catacomb Rocks or kayak on the Colorado River.

Dead Horse State Park

Dead Horse State is a dark sky sanctuary located ten minutes north of Canyonlands National Park. Staying inside the park is such a treat. You’ll have the chance to see great sunsets, sunrises, bright stars, and nocturnal wildlife!

Mid-range:

Moenkopi Yurts

With space to sleep up to six, the Moenkopie Yurts have a propane grill, indoor and outdoor seating, and heating and air conditioning. Restrooms are located within walking distance. Bring your own bedding.
