Where to stay in Bend

If you’re visiting Oregon, staying in Bend is a must! As avid outdoor enthusiasts, it’s one of our favorite areas to visit year-round because there is always something to do. The surrounding towns all have unique offerings, so we’ve provided overviews of each and covered the best lodging in Bend, Sunriver, Sisters, and Redmond.

Bend

Stay in Bend for great food, drinks, and company. It offers the perfect blend of outdoor adventure and urban charm, with opportunities for hiking and biking right in town.

Luxury:

Oxford Hotel

Stay here to experience the best of Bend. Located in downtown Bend, restaurants and shopping are located across the street, and Drake Park is a quick, eight-minute walk away. On-site you’ll have access to complimentary bikes, a hot tub, sauna, and steam room.

Tethrow Resort

Enjoy a beautiful stay just outside of town, with the choice to stay in the lodge or a private home, including pet-friendly options. A complimentary shuttle is provided to downtown Bend and the Old Mill District, and there is an option to pay for a shuttle to Mount Bachelor in the winter season. While you’re there, enjoy the Tethrow golf course and a year-round heated pool.

Mid-range:

McMenamins Old St. Francis School

We love McMenamins! They are a local family-run business that saves and restores historic properties, turning them into hotels, bars, restaurants, and event spaces. Opening in 1936, this property was the first-ever parochial school established in Central Oregon, but the school relocated in 2000. Now it’s a hotel with a movie theater, restaurant, speakeasy, secret rooms in the Art and Ed houses, and a soaking pool.

Wall Street Suites

Located across the street from Pioneer Park on the Deschutes River, we love that you can choose between studios with or without fully equipped kitchens here. Plus, they offer complimentary bikes, snowshoes, and pet-friendly rooms with an on-site dog park.

Budget:

Bunk+Brew

This is a hostel with mixed gender, female only, and private rooms. There are perks to staying here, too – it’s not far from restaurants downtown and you’ll have access to paid laundry, a sauna, food trucks, and live music.

Holiday Inn Express & Suites

Located on the south end of town, this Holiday Inn provides a continental breakfast. There are a few restaurants nearby, but this hotel isn’t in a walkable location.

Sunriver

Sunriver is a small, high-end community 20 minutes south of Bend with an abundance of condos for rent. It’s most well-known for its biking paths. Once you’ve arrived, you can ditch the car and bike everywhere in town. While here, consider visiting the SHARC, the Nature Center and Observatory, or paddle at the Sunriver Marina.

Luxury:

Sunriver Resort

This resort has something for everyone – it’s on a golf course, offers spa services (you know we love their reservable Nordic style Oasis Room), and even has a round-trip shuttle to Mount Bachelor in the winter. It’s also pet-friendly.

Mid-range:

Pet-friendly Condo

This condo comes with a SHARC pass, BBQ, laundry, and a larger kitchen. With three bedrooms and two baths, it comfortably sleeps six.

The Pines at Sunriver

Choose between a studio, one-, or two-bedroom condo here. Each has a kitchen, washer and dryer, balcony, and comes with two bikes.

Sisters

Sisters is 30 minutes northwest of Bend. Stay here to enjoy the small-town charm of this western-themed town and beautiful views of the Cascade mountains.

Luxury:

Fivepine Lodge and Spa

The Fivepine Lodge and Spa says it best – with “the personal touch of a bed and breakfast, the privacy of romantic, cozy cabins, and all the amenities of a resort, Fivepine is the ultimate romantic getaway” – and we couldn't agree more!

Mid-range:

The Scout Boutique Cottages

These private cottages have everything you could want – a great walkable location, fireplaces and pits, complimentary bikes, and porch swings.

Budget:

Best Western Ponderosa Lodge

Our favorite thing here are the llamas that live in the grassy meadows near the hotel grounds! Otherwise, they also have a great continental breakfast, pool, and pet-friendly rooms.

Redmond

Redmond is 30 minutes north of Bend. It’s quieter, but it has a growing arts and dining scene. While you’re here, checking out Smith Rock State Park is a must.

Mid-range:

SCP Redmond Hotel

SCP is an impressive boutique hotel chain. Each of the 49 rooms here are different, with specially designed “peaceful rooms”, pet-friendly options, a rooftop bar, and two restaurants on-site.
